Korum Lightweight Chair and Accessory Chair Arm Set - 07/04/2009

I managed to get my hands on the original Korum Lightweight Chair soon after it was launched. Not only was it just the job for taking on the riverbank – I love nothing more than roving for chub – it was the ideal seat for taking on features. Right from the start I liked the fully adjustable, independent square-leg system because it enabled me to sit in comfort on the bank however uneven it was.

There was, however, one feature of the chair, which I wasn’t too impressed with – the hard webbing that you sat on. Granted, it was waterproof and only took a quick shake to dry it off, but it felt cold when you sat in the chair and if the wind was blowing from the rear, you got a cold draft on your back. So I was really pleased to see the 2009 model of the chair sporting a fabric cover to replace the plastic one. There’s also a padded headrest. I’ve been out with the chair over the winter and there’s certainly a difference. It’s really comfortable, far better than the original, and without the holes in the cover my back and backside stayed warm, even in the biting-cold winds we experienced in December and January.

Even with the changes to the chair, it still fits nicely onto the Korum Ruck Bag and with the softer material it’s even more comfortable against my back as I walk. With the new, improved chair comes the accessory for the laid-back angler – the arm kit. These don’t come as standard; you have to pay a little extra, but if you are a long-stay angler who likes to be comfortable while waiting for a bite, then these are for you. They are quick and easy to assemble and will fit all of the chairs in the Korum range. However, there is one issue you need to be aware of before you attach them to the chair, and that is to ensure you fit the other accessories to the legs before you start fishing.
