Tackling a cold and partially frozen river Ouse at Stony Stratford, near Milton Keynes, local angler Jake Stratton had the chub session of a lifetime.
With snow still on the ground the 21-year-old fished two swim on simple bomb legered bread flake tactics. The first delivered two fish before a move to the second saw the chub go hard on the feed.
In a short session Jake went on to catch 14 fish from the swim, three of which went over 6lb to a best of 6lb 14oz with the other two weighing 6lb 6oz and 6lb 3oz.
Angler Bill McDonald took the picture of Jake and hus chub halfway through the staggering session, saying: “"He'd gone hoping to get his first ever 6. Neither of us could believe his luck with what he actually ended up catching."
Jake’s catch was taken from a Milton Keynes Angling Association run stretch of the Ouse. More details on joining MKAA can be found here.
Just some of Jake's impressive catch.
